The MxL231 is a low-power, upstream PGA IC that is designed for DOCSIS 3.0 applications with extended power capability. The MxL231 targets DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS cable gateway designs.
The amplifier covers a frequency range of 5MHz to 85MHz, and can transmit eight simultaneous 64-QAM signals, each at 56dBmV at the balun output. The MxL231 is designed to be used in conjunction with all MaxLinear DOCSIS 3.0 Full-Spectrum Capture™ (FSC™) tuners, such as the MxL265D, MxL267D, and MxL268.
The MxL231 is configurable through an SPI bus and operates using a single 3.3V supply. The MxL231 is offered in a small 4mm x 4mm footprint, 24-pin QFN package.
- Very low-power consumption of 950mW typical in an eight-channel QAM mode
- Low standby power <27mW
- Small 4mm x 4mm QFN package
- Single 3.3V supply
- 65 gain steps in 1dB increments
- 65dBmV combined Tx power for eight QAM channels at the balun output
- Configurable through an SPI
- Ideal upstream amplifier for MxL265D, MxL267D, and MxL268 designs
- Supported Standards:
- DOCSIS 3.0 and 2.0
- EuroDOCSIS 3.0 and 2.0
- EMTAs
- DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems
