The SP2525A device is an integrated high-side power switch ideal for self-powered and buspowered Universal Serial Bus (USB) applications.

The high-side switches are MOSFETs with 70mΩ RDS(ON), which meets USB voltage drop requirements for maximum transmission wire
length. Multi-purpose open-drain fault flag output indicates over-current limiting, thermal shutdown, or undervoltage lockout for each channel. Output current is typically limited to 0.85A below the 5A safety requirement, and the thermal shutdown function shuts the switch off to prevent damage under overcurrent conditions. Guaranteed minimum output rise time limits inrush current during hot plug-in, minimizing EMI and preventing the voltage at the upstream port from dropping excessively.

  • 3.0V to 5.5V input voltage range
  • 500mA continuous load current per channel
  • 2.6V undervoltage lockout
  • 1.25A short-circuit current limit
  • 100mΩ maximum on-resistance
  • 75µA on-state supply current
  • 1µA shutdown current
  • Output can be forced higher than input
  • (off-state)
  • Thermal shutdown
  • Slow turn on and fast turn off
  • Active-high version: SP2525A-1
  • Active-low version: SP2525A-2

Distribution Date Description File
07/17/2023 In 2023, MaxLinear will be converting all shipping labels for the parts noted from an EXAR format to MaxLinear’s label. During this transition customers may receive either label. This change affects only shipping and packing labels. This change will not affect the part number, part marking, manufacturing process or manufacturing sites. Only work in progress material will be converted. Existing inventory from MaxLinear’s warehouse, channel sales, distributor, and such, will not be converted. Hence, customers may experience receiving mixed shipments with both Exar and MaxLinear labels for some period until existing inventory of old labels is eventually cleared out. Situation is product to product with no predictable way to determine when all old labels will be exhausted. No change to product form, fit, function and reliability. ADDENDUM A: Fixed MBB label logo for DX204001 to MaxLinear logo. ADDENDUM B: Replaced ‘All other affected products outer box label’ with clearer pictures. Corrected Date Issued (from original PCN) issue date +90 days to August 30, 2023.
